What we collect
GearScout collects the minimum needed to run the site: your email address if you subscribe to the newsletter, and anonymous analytics about which outbound product links get clicked.
Affiliate click logging
When you click a "check price" button, the request passes through our own redirect so we can count the click before sending you to the retailer. We record the product, the page you came from, your browser's user agent, and a one-way hash of your IP address. We do not store raw IP addresses and we cannot reverse the hash back to you.
Newsletter
If you subscribe, we store your email address and the page you signed up from. We use it only to send the newsletter. Every issue includes an unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing removes you from the list.
Retailers and third parties
Once you follow an outbound link, the retailer's own privacy policy and cookies apply. We have no control over, and no visibility into, what happens on their site beyond whether a purchase was attributed to us.
Your rights
You can ask us what data we hold about you, or ask us to delete it, by emailing editorial@gearscout.example. We'll action deletion requests within 30 days.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll note it on this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
